Wolf spider with babies

I absolutely loving seeing these. Ive come across about 5 of these mother wolf spiders carrying babies. This one was in my pool drain. I tried really hard to remove her from the water without disturbing the babies but it didnt work out. She lost about half the babies when I got her out.

Re: Wolf spider with babies

GREAT photography!!! I see these every year around this time, usually in the garage or the kitchen if they make it that far. At first they look like a giant spider with an extra large body, but it's almost creepy if you disturb them. You bump a big spider and thousands of tiny baby spiders drop off and start running for the hills. Thanks for sharing the great photos.

Re: Wolf spider with babies

I really look forward to finding one with babies one day! That is great you were able to get them pics.

Wolf spiders are one of my fav's and I have handled quite a few large ones and never been bitten...they settle down after a couple minutes and will relax nicely on your hand, just be sure you stay close to the ground in case they decide to spaz out and jump off!
