question youve heard before

My wife and I recently got a scaleless rat snake. well it has been about 2 weeks or so now. and we have tried to feed it. well it was interested in the pinky at first even gave a bit of a chase. then it turned away. by the looks I would say that this rat is about 2/3 the width of the pink. My question is there an alternative food source that such a small animal could take. sorry for asking a stupid question, but we keep retics and are completely new to looking for smaller prey. Thank you for your time.

Re: question youve heard before

You'd be surprised what a snake can eat. Some times it can a while to young rat snakes to eat rodents, as they tend to eat frogs as lizards in the wild. Just stick with it and offer a pinky again in another 4-5 days.

Re: question youve heard before

What I did with my Cal King that refused 2 feedings in her feed box. I put a pinkie in a Solo/Dixie cup on a known path she was traveling in the cage. I put it in Friday night and it was gone Monday morning. That was the first chance I got to check on her. She's been a monster eater in her feed box since.
