My baby Kenyan won't eat!

Hello all!

About three weeks ago, I picked up a baby paradox albino KSB from a reptile convention. The seller told me that she was a little under a month old (So now she's 6-7 weeks) and that she has shed and eaten three meals. The first week I had her, she ate her pinkie, however last week she refused. This morning (Feeding day for all my snakes) I offered her a live pinkie, but she seemed very uninterested in it.

One of my other Kenyans has a hard time finding his meals, so I tried "showing the mouse to her" like I do with him but to no avail.

For a while I thought she was in shed, but she isn't turning milky, nor is her belly 'yellowing.' I'm getting kind of worried.

What I would do is place the snake in a deli cup, with the pinky, place the deli cup in the tub or enclosure, and leave everything in a dark, quiet room for awhile....This has been a trick that has worked for me with a lot of hesitant eaters...

Also, what is your setup like, temps, substrate and such....the more we know about your setup, the more we can help you out

She's in a three gallon container, with aspen, water and a hotspot of about 95 degrees. Plenty of space considering how teeny she is.

You are very welcome! I'm glad it worked!

You might want to think about putting a few hides in the enclosure, just to give your new baby more security, since a Ten Gallon is pretty big for a baby

So what do you do if that trick doesn't work? I have a stubborn baby KSB too. Tried the deli cup trick twice and the pinky was untouched.

You can try "braining" the pinky....meaning poking a hole in the head of the pinky until the brain starts to come out, you can see if you can locate live pinkies and offer them those for the first few feedings, and then switch over to f/t, you can try scenting the pinky with unsalted chicken broth or even salmon juice.

Another trick I found that worked with my Rough Scale Sand Boa is leaving the pinky right on top of his head, and he would end up grabbing it and eating it....
