so my savanah monitor i purchased at an expo last weekend dug a very unstable burrow under a basking rock in his enclosure... i took the stone out and redid his whole cage and put a plastic container upside down with a hole that lead's to a plastic cup with the bottom cut out as an entrance as a burrow for him to use since i put it under the substrate, but last night when i put him back in his enclosure he explored and went into the burrow and hasn't returned since and ever since i got him he's always basked and explored all day but now he stay's in there.. can someone tell me what's happened?
Re: help!! i don't know why he's being like this..
He's being a normal little monitor. It's fine. Don't harass him and let him come out on his own time. You put some food in a bowl by his hide so you can track if and what he is eating. It is very normal for these guys to spend their early life underground and out of site- be patient and allow him to do his thing. How are you keeping him? What is your setup like? Could you post some pictures for us?
Re: help!! i don't know why he's being like this..
he actually came out and ate cricket's and a few super worms from my hand about 10 minutes ago, so i think he's gotten more comfortable, but how do i post pictures?
