Hatchling!

I need some tips on feeding a hatchling scarlet king. Does anyone have successful tips or methods I should use? I don't want to have to feed it anoles so I definitely want to use a diet switching technique but what could I feed it other than its natural diet of lizards? I have never owned a snake this small before so it seems challenging but worth it!

Re: Hatchling!

Is it wild caught? If not what was the breeder feeding it?

Re: Hatchling!

actually I shouldn't say breeder, my friend found a pregnant one and hatched her eggs and set her free and he gave me one, would he be better off in the wild?

Re: Hatchling!

You are the one with the snake, that is for you to decide. Your snake will not eat until it's first shed. After it sheds wait a day or two then try to feed him. If you are going to release it feed it live- if you are going to keep it as a pet you can try f/t right off the bat. Make sure it is warmed very well to trigger the little guys instincts. Keep us posted.

Edit: I may have read this wrong- I'm sorry. Has this snake eaten a few meals post shed with your friend?

Re: Hatchling!

no, only the egg yolk he started off with, I think I will let him go, I would hate myself if I let it die. im going to try for a few more days but of course if he wont eat, ill release him.
