Just got back from a frog search...

I just got back after about 7 hours of freezing cold frog "hunting". It was such a pain because you can hear thousands, and some are right beside you but as soon as you move they stop calling. Anyway i managed to see *1* frog, which was a Pacific Tree frog. Kinda of a pain staying out till 4 am and not catching a thing . However a caouple nights ago i did the same thing witha buddy and came up with 14 salamanders . Anyway just thought id share some pics.

One nasty bug. Some type of Centipede (gravid?)

Me getting all wet and cold thinking i managed to get a picture of a frog. I dont think there is one in the pic, but let me know if you see one.

Holy crap. The most i have ever caught in one night was 36, and that took 6 1/2 hours! Where abouts is that? Any other herps worth looking for? I just got back from another shorter one (3 h) and came up with 1 red legged from, and 3 pacific tree frogs, and of course i didnt have the camara . I found it interesting becaue i was in a large clearcut, and there was sooo much life. I was really surprised that there would be so much in so little.

Hey, what kind of salamander is that? A western species, eh.

Cheers,

You're not alone Kyle, I'm an amphibian hunting freak too...I wear hip waders so I don't get wet and cold though. I stayed out for about an hour and caught 2 whole upland chorus frogs and got no clear pics of them...
