Exclamation Christmas Boa Updates -

Guys, just an update, the snake(s) arrived yesterday at my friends house with no heat tape in the box. It also wasn't the snake that was ordered, it was two Colombians, labeled male and female. The breeder has dropped off of the face of the planet, the site was taken down a few days ago, the emails are all gone, and they delivered to the billing address rather than shipping. He got some hand warmers and left them in the box in the deli cups and is just replacing the warmers as they grow cold. They will be coming to me on Tuesday.

My friend has ordered 3ft of 12" flexwatt and the cord on reptilebasics that is said to be here today on the tracking info. I also purchased two 34qt bins and two 57.5oz heavy duty plastic dog bowls for water. I may go get a couple more to put holes in and use as hides (they are pretty good sized) as well as a couple of the 20.6oz version for a smaller, tighter hide.

This whole process has been hell and I am now kicking myself for NOT telling you all the breeders name because I wanted to put up a BOI post to warn everyone and I can't remember their name or website. I'm very fortunate I got live animals and my friend still has a bank account because whoever this was hacked our emails to remove messages unless messages just disappear when a recipient email is deleted.

Moral of the story, guys - RESEARCH YOUR BREEDERS BEFORE YOU BUY.

Well, I didn't make the decision to purchase through this breeder and my friend doesn't know any better. I was just making an example of what a bad deal can do and warning others. I know to research before I buy, I made the mistake of ordering through Backwater once and I was beyond devastated when my monitor died.

Re: Christmas Boa Updates -

how do you know that their website has been taken down, you said you do not remember the address?

You cannot just delete a website from the internet and expect it to vanish, it doesnt work like that, there are many ways to trace website owners and to view websites which have been taken down as far back as 1998...they dont just vanish, whether the owners want them to or not, so if you can tell us the website address, theres plenty of information which can be found out for you

who is your email provider?

i'm confused tbh, I find it highly unlikely that someone with the skills necessary to break modern server security, would bother to break into your email account to delete emails relating to the sale of a snake, besides, no email provider would allow their servers to be hacked without taking action against them and without notifying you that the breach had occurred, and no email provider would provide this service to the public without having a back up in place...none of this makes any sense to be honest. (my previous job upto 2006 was running servers and monitoring IT security for a major uni, even back then it took a serious level of skill to break into them, people did not do it just to delete a few emails linked to a low value fraudulent sale, if anything it just makes it more likely that they can be traced!)
