The enclosure my finance' is making me build before we buy our house...lol. she told me that it better blend in and look nice if i plan on keeping over-sized reptiles...ugh... all in all i'll let you guys follow this headache of a journey that has taken over my studio apartment..smh.. My ornate will love this mini condo... anyone else have any enclosure in the building process to share?

I'm confused. Your building a massive 8 x 8 x 8 with fake trees and all kinds of cool stuff in a studio apartment? And then you have to move it to a house? Anyways, looks pretty sweet haha

lol but an understandable question......the trick is; that the whole thing can be taken apart and reassembled. I always wanted a to create an enclosure that could be moved if need be. and i only have a short time to build it. have to return to work soon. kind of sucks for me but my monitor will hopefully appreciate it....

looks like its going to be awsome! the tree should look great, do you think the foam will withstand monitor claws then?

currently collecting materials for mine, also designing it to be pulled apart in sections, the plan is to be able to set it up as a single square(ish) box, an L shaped enclosure and also as 2 separate enclosures connected by plastic tunnels, approx 9 x 7' floor space in the enclosure itself. when in L shaped setup, i'm building some walls which will allow him to roam outside his enclosure sometimes, giving a total of 9 x 12.5' roaming space - infact more than that, as one section will have 2 floors - hard to describe in text, still finalizing the designs, i'll post them up once i've finished the details

I’ll be covering the tree with a quick drying cement I’m not using traditional concrete because of the added weight and this enclosure has to be collapsible. Only thing I don’t like about spray foam is that it has a slick outer shell and I have to scratch the foam so the cement grabs it deep enough for durability for when the monitor want to hang on. I’m using a 1.25cm thick cement coating for the tree once I finish shaping it out any more and it would be too heavy. I did some test samples on the foam and also weaker foam and found that any more wasn't necessary, but I think 2.54cm is the golden thickness unless it’s a damn komodo..lol

Your enclosure sounds like a fun build! Can’t wait to see it! Collapsible is the way to go. My past enclosures were typical wood and glass and not appealing. I’m pulling out my contracting background on this one and making it so the skeptics of large reptile keeping will be envious of the aesthetic. MAKE SURE YOU POST PICS!
