Going to try

F/T today with my ball Bo. Last week I feed him a huge small /med rat and it scared me with how big it was compared to Bo. So in a thread last week I told @Aaron.s I would try this. anyway my questions are how warm should the rat be? if he doesn't take it how long should I wait to try again? do u think it is more important to switch to F/T even if it takes a while or stick to what is the norm schedule ur snake is used to? given that u should know Bo is about three ft. and took what compared to him a big prey faster then I've ever seen him take a prey.thats all all info welcome. Thanks in advance.

P.s- I typed this whole thing on my phone pressed one button and it all deleted uugghhh!!!!!!!!

Re: Going to try

I am also just starting out with F/T as well, from what I have been told by more experienced snake owners than I, is let the mouse thaw completely, this is the only must. Depending on the snake will depend on what you do from there, some will take it at room temp as long as they catch the sent and see it, others will need it to be heated up just a little in warm water (dry before feeding it) or by a few minutes under a heat lamp (not to long to where you end up cooking it). And for some picky eaters they need the body warmed by either of the previous methods, along with the head of the mouse dipped in some hot water for a few seconds right before presenting it to your snake. You just have to find out what your snake will go for. This is what I know so far, I am new to snakes and not an expert in any way but this is the information I have come across and been told recently. I could not tell you how long you should wait to try again, but I would suggest F/T is the way to go, if you cant get Bo to take one in 2 or 3 weeks. It may never happen but live prey could always injure you snake if they got a bite.
