Organic Soil

How do I make organic soil for my Sav? I've been using eco earth since he is so young and up to this point hasn't been digging much. However I've noticed lately that he is doing more and more digging. He's building tunnels all over his enclosure. which creates a slight problem. Eco earth is great because I can replace it regularly but it doesn't have the consistency needed for tunneling. Every time he digs a tunnel it collapses around him.
I would really like to move away from eco earth. Will you help me replace it with organic soil. Thanks.

Thank you. You are always very helpful its a blessing. I'll start the process after my knee surgery that way I don't make the injury worse by going to the mountains.

We don't have a lot of oak trees in New Mexico mostly pine would evergreen material be ok to substitute for leaves? Should I go by some organic compost material?

Do NOT use raw pine.

Pines / conifer / evergreen is loaded with terpene.

Only after it is kiln dried, but that kills the bio active features.

Compost / mulch is a good top cover to help retain soil moisture.
