herping in indiana?

Does anyone go herping in northern indiana? I live near fort wayne and I go to my dads up in south bend frequently, and I can't find anywhere to go herping. does anyone know of any good spots? I've been to the warren dunes, indiana dunes, baugo creek, and all kinds of places. my grandpa has a farm house but all I find are garters. I want to find some racers and milk snakes. Any tips on herping? places to look?

Do you have Miltons Book?
Sherman was one amazing dude, his adventures and writings were a huge inspiration for me to go herping in Indiana. Also Highly recommend his autobiography " Life, Love and Reptiles" Best story I've ever read about hacking off a dudes arm to save him in that book, fun read.
Best.

Re: herping in indiana?

I lived up there for a summer and looked around a lot. Found plenty of turtles and amphibians but no snakes that I can recall.

All I've been able to find are eastern garters. I found a range map that said we have black rat snakes, blue and black racers, western hognose snakes, and a bunch of other snakes. I never see any of those tho:/
