nile monitor cage

after doing about a year of research i purchased my baby nile monitor i have him in a 7 longx 4wide x 3high enclosure right now he is a 2013 c.b so he should be good for a while and i was just wondering if anyone has any idea on an adult enclosure size i have plenty of land to build an outdoor enclosure if need be

provide the largest cage you can afford to heat & maintain properly at the correct temps, get a dig box in there if you haven't already, if you can provide 2/3 foot of usable soil when its older then that would be great, also a big heated pool would go down well in the final cage, not always practical to most keepers!

& they grow like weeds in the correct conditions.

Who exactly sold you a CB Nile? I don't know of anyone who breeds them, so unless you were provided with pictures of breeding, eggs, hatching, etc, then your nile was not captive bred.

Umm reptile city advertised 2013 c.b. niles this is my first time seeing c.b. niles also. this is my second nile and pictures will be up soon havent got around with taking them yet been very busy but they will be up very soon

There are quite a few people breeding niles.

Not that I'm aware of.. Who exactly? You see plenty of "captive born" Niles which are simply from eggs taken from wild females, but truly CBB babies are not something I've seen yet..

Andrew Llewyn or whatever his name from PA is actually breeding alot of cool stuff so he might have niles. I didn't believe his claims at first but he actually just posted the first captive bred and born Mangroves in the U.S. I believe, and has Dums due to hatch as well. He is also a regular breeder of albigs.

I have never seen Andrew post anything about niles. His mangrove locality crosses are freaking awesome though.

All I have seen Andrew produce are those indicus things, whatever they were.

I should rephrase: I have yet to see anyone produce healthy babies regularly. I have seen plenty of "breeders" who have a male and female of whatever species. Thing is, that doesn't make them breeders... Just people with big ideas and no results.

He produces blackthroats each year, but I think his wait list is something like 400 people long. If you join the blackthroat facebook group, he always posts pics of his new hatchlings on there. Idk if he produced any dums, but he did tell me that he had some eggs cooking, I shrugged it off as I didnt' really know who he was and thought he was bull**** me.
