Re: This is just wrong on a number of levels.

Its probably just a BP, but of course they show a picture of a Burm. They probably have kingsnakes over 4 feet all over the place there, but nobody ever worries about them even though they can survive the winters whereas a python won't.

I almost want to fly out there, pull up a lawn chair, and watch those idiots.....in a bulletproof vest, of course. Ignorance at its finest.

Most likely. I'd get animal control asap.

In that part of Ohio my bet would be on black rat snakes, which grow to a very decent size and are quite common.

Nevermind that you could probably find a copperhead under one of those trailers if you looked hard enough. They don't seem to mind a human presence all that much and the space under a trailer is near perfect for them.

No you don't, you would need eye bleach afterward.

Since local LE requested help, DH went ahead and called. Additional info:
- If the snake is caught alive the authorities are willing to rehome it and not kill it.
- Based on the description the snake is a normal ball python.
- As of yesterday the authorities hadn't been offered help or even a contact from anyone in the local herp network.
- Ever seen "Faces of Meth"? This woman belongs on the list. Cop described her as scary.

My guess is that they'll never find it while the weather is warm, and it will either perish this winter or find its way into a trailer once the weather starts getting cooler.

Yeah, you're probably right about the eye bleach lol

What a sad, sad situation...

edit: sorry the quote didn't come out highlighted.
