Ackie feeding?

What's the estimated food budget for a single Ackie, as well as the preferred feeding schedule and menu?

Invest in a giant dubia colony.

Re: Ackie feeding?

I figured I might want to do that. How much should it cost for general upkeep of the colony as well as other prey items?

You can not feed an all roach diet. They will need other insects and will need to be fed rodents. Weekly for a single adult ackie, will cost about $15.

Yeah, I was/am the guy who emailed you not long ago asking about your availability of yellow Ackies. What should the feeding schedule look like for an adult? Do they need to be fed daily? Would a good diet be, let's say, 1/3 roaches and 2/3 other inverts with the addition of rodents and shrimp and other stuff?

You emailed him and he got back to you?
Could I have his email, because I have been curious about purchasing from him for a while.

Re: Ackie feeding?

I just kinda pulled that fraction/proportion out of my hat, by the way. I'm just wondering what their menu should look like.

Re: Ackie feeding?

As often as it takes to maintain a healthy weight. I dump in four dozen crickets a week and feed roaches or fuzzies off and on the rest of the week. My female eats twice as much as my male. Therefore there is not answer to your question. Use common sense. If it looks skinny then feed it, if it looks fat then cut back on food. It realty is that simple. I have around 16 ackies (might have missed one or two). I can't tell how much they eat individually. Pretty much daily or every other day

Re: Ackie feeding?

The stripes are still growing like weeds. I have been feeding them heavy and expect some breeding action late this year. The stripe pattern has held true and they are acting normal in every way. I think I have 15 goods eggs about to hatch in a half a month from the parents that produced the stripes. Really interested to see how that clutch comes out.
