Frank Retes never had perenties. A shipment he had coming in with one was stopped and seized by USFW before it ever got to him because someone (who will remain nameless) contacted the proper people to get it stopped. Seems there was a huge lack in proper paperwork proving the animals legality. So the person who blew the wistle made the right call in my opinion.
As for his lace monitors, He never legally imported them from anywhere. They had no CITES or paper trail at all. So, who knows how he got them. Obviously, no one ever cared enough to look into it.

Re: Importing Lace Monitors?
It seems like I saw one or two photos of a Perentie that allegedly belonged to him. No clue if it was legitimate or not, probably not. If he did own one, I'm confident there was some shady stuff going on.
EDIT: Here it is:

Supposedly Frank did have a female. It was the male he tried to "bring in" That got seized.
That photo from 2009 is no way and animal Frank owned.
The first photo looks more like a taxidermy lizard than a live one sir. Hahahahahahaha.

To be honest, I would bet that the photo from 2009 was taken in OZ, because why would anyone in their right mind, hold an unrestrained Perentie outside in the open like that?

Well now that you mention it....
It was not taken in Australia, there aren't prickly pear cactus or cholla in OZ. Frank seems to have a thing for taking pictures of unrestrained monitors outside.. Did you see the pictures of when he got his Green Trees?
