How cold is to cold for shipping?

I have read that most people will ship snakes all the way down to 40 degrees. I want to get everyones opinions on what temperature you think is the bare minimum to ship in. I guy that sold me my new GTP said he will ship around 45 degrees. I really don't know how I feel about shipping that cold as GTP are not the most hardy snakes. Again I would love to get everyones inputs and opinions on this subject. Thank you!

i honestly would not feel comfy at those temps pal

i know they will have a heat pack and ship it correctly,but like you say gtp's are not the hardest of species

will HE take responsibility if the snake arrives dead ?

also a few more feeds,should be nothing to the breeder,then he could ship in spring

I wouldn't do 45 either. I'm getting geckos from a place that won't ship anything until May. As far as I'm concerned, there's absolutely no reason to not just wait until it's warmer rather than put the poor snake through that and hope it lives. Plus, if this person doesn't happen to know how to ship in cold weather or the weather turns colder, there could be some pretty disastrous consequences. I saw someone who ordered geckos and the guy insisted that he could ship in the cold, and the geckos arrived in 30 degree weather with some loose, unsealed styrofoam, holes in the box, and a tiny heat pack by a hole to the outside. I saw pics, and the geckos looked half dead (amazing they weren't). At least once it's warmer, if the person can't ship right, it won't be risking the snake's life.

My Diamond x Jungle was shipped from lll reptiles in Ca. in low 50's. It came packaged perfected with two 48 hour heat packs. The snake was nice and warm to the touch. With a GTP though i would wait till it's in the low 60's. Plus ask how his packs and how many heat packs would he use. I would just ask your questions then if you have concern just ask if they can wait till it warms up more for your peace of mind.

They ship up to -20°c here in Canada.

I got one of my royals shipped when it was in the 30f range. No issue as long as they know how to pack it right.

I'm no expert on shipping temps, but unless he could guarantee live arrival I would hold off until it's 60 degrees...

A dead GTP, regardless of if you were covered against the loss or not, is still a dead GTP and a life would have been needlessly lost.
