Use NIX or PAM. If you search mites, or Nix, you will find all the info you need

Nix....or PAM (Provent a mite). There are a ton of threads on this subject. Top of the page is a search function. Type in the search and hit enter. You will get everything you need to treat the mites.

Re: mite's on boa :( :( :(

You came to the right spot!! and are seeking help that's the first step and shes still got an appetite very good news. there's 2 options I would recommend you can purchase some prevent a mite. follow directions closely on the bottle..remove substrate. hides and water bowls..remove snake disinfect the enclosure spray enclosure let it air out then. soak the snake in warm water while doing this bugs drown replace snake repeat in 2 wks. p.a.m can and will kill your boa if it comes in direct contact with it, via residue, directly spraying ect. must follow directions on the bottle.
or the nix lice treatment mix, I personally like this one better bc you can treat the boa directly. go to walmart buy nix shampoo (2 oz) fill up an empty milk jug with water and shampoo(very important detail 1 gallon per 2 oz of shampoo)..follow same instructions at the p.a.m. remove contents, sanitize, soak boa. the difference is this stuff can be sprayed directly to the cage and boa. I sprayed the carpet in the snake room as well why not you have a gallon of it lol return water bowl after 24 hours. repeat as needed honestly I spray enclosure everyday for a week. haven't seen a critter since. Now I spray every boa that comes through my door with the nix treatment

my 2 cents lol

I think that it should also be said that if Nix is used improperly it is can also be fatal. Both treatments are permethrin based and can be toxic. Follow both protocols with care. Should also be a little more cautious with baby snakes.

I dont agree with sorry nix is safe enough to use on a baby. Its diluted form is deffinitely safe enough for my boas. Everyone I know in the industry uses this method without ever having an ill effect and swear by it. In my personal opinion its safer then the pam.

Re: mite's on boa :( :( :(

provent a mite

its a simple spray can, designed for reptiles

you take the snakes and water bowls and place them in a different rooom

then you spray the viv's and the viv contents

wait 2 hours for the fumes to disapate

then wash water bowls with hot soapy water and put the bowls and the snakes back into their viv's

it remains active for 30 days,so NO need for repeat treatments, like other methods require

its also great for quarantine viv's for new arrivals

use once mites dead,it's that easy mate

cheers shaun

Re: mite's on boa :( :( :(

Nix and provent a mite are not as readily available over here (can't be bought off the shelf) and as far as I am aware you will have to order online which may take a few days to be delivered. If you can't get hold of them before you would like to the treatments I know of that I have seen on the shelf are callingtons and ardap. I haven't used ardap but callingtons you take the water out and then spray the enclosure with the snake in and then replace the water after 24 hours. You then repeat after 7 days as it does not kill the eggs.
