Re: Does size matter for a retic?

eww. just spent an hour cleaning the monster out. For some reason, the people who made this didn't seal the bottom (or frame it, for that matter). So sanding that is going to be NASTY. I was curious about using this rubber coating stuff...it's heat resistant, and fumes are gone after airing out. They use this stuff for barbeques, so if it's safe to eat what is cooked on it, shouldn't it be safe for a snake? gonna go grab some 2x4's to frame the bottom of it. Might even get an extra 8ft piece of plywood to give it some more hold (they used 1/4 inch all around). this project is gonna be fuuun.

I'm using the GE 100% silicone II to seal the cracks, i'm just talking about for the entire bottom. If it's not okay, i may just replace that entire piece...cause yuck. xP (it's more of an eyesore than anything, but still)

That enclosure is a steal and has lots of potential! Of course, some work needs to be done to it, but the base is there!

Re: Does size matter for a retic?

Mini wax polycrylic is a safe sealer, thats what I have used in my home made viv's.

Awesome deal on the Viv!
I got a 4'x3' glass display case for $30 at Goodwill and my bearded dragons live in it. Some times it helps to look around

Re: Does size matter for a retic?

for real! it was amazing, cause usually the vivs on ksl and craigslist are wayyyy too small. this one is huge, but gives him room to grow, and me artistic liberty to give him cover =3

Re: Does size matter for a retic?

You can use this Famowood.. Once it is dried and aired out for a few days it acts just like Glass. 100% water proof and will seal any small cracks and gaps. I used this on the bottom of all my vivs.

Amazon.com: Famowood 5050080 Glaze Coat Epoxy Clear Adhesive Kit, Clear: Arts, Crafts & Sewing
