Re: usually it's treats...
You do know those Christmas Tree Totes are only half that price right? And as far as securing the lids better, I use binder clips and I have never had an escape. All my animals are in tubs and most are strong enough to where if they wanted to push hard enough on the lid, they could escape. A couple of large binder clips on each side secures the lid well enough for mine. The only ones who really try to push up on the lid are my burms and they've never escaped (now I bet I just jinxed myself lol )

Where are you getting your Christmas tree tote? I've been like a vulture at the local Wal Marts, going every couple of days to see if they have them yet and so far nothing!

They only carry them around X-mas and right after. There are sites you can order them from.
Here's one site.
Artificial Christmas Tree Box by Iris, Holiday Storage
Just Google Iris VE 175 Christmas totes.

Ibaman, I got no more suggestions for you then :P The games above are boardgame-ish. Also, cards against humanity is epic win. It's the naughty version of apples to apples.

Shaun, that sounds hilarious!!

Darlin' I'm glad you found him by chance but you never would have with this thinking. 8 ft. is nothin'. You saw the video Kyle posted of the retic climbing the tree right? Should you ever lose a snake again don't underestimate it being anywhere.

That 20 ft Retic chased a bunch of monkeys straight up a tree.
Maybe you need to watch the video again...

Re: usually it's treats...
but it was also a thin tree, and he was able to wrap himself around it to climb up...this is slick wood with no grip or really places to hold onto...

iBaman:
Better yet, if it's some place that he can't harm himself, let him go and watch him. I will sometimes make sure whatever room I'm handling my snakes in is snake proofed as best as possible and watch them roam....one at a time of course lol. I will follow them just to make sure if they do get something that could be potentially dangerous in some form or another, I'm there to make sure they don't go there lol.
I love observing what they do once they're given a bit of free roam. It's interesting to see how they act and react to certain things. It also gives me a better idea of if they do escape, where they may go or how they travel.

Re: usually it's treats...
Haha, yeah i did that today before i fed him (needed to clean up the mess he made...newspaper doesn't absorb a spilled waterdish well), and he just hid in my closet xD. Once he eats (i think he's fasting), i'll let him roam a little under supervision just to see where he goes.
