Still not shedding

So as you know I have a babyish corn and he has been having shedding problems even though all of his care is correct. I seriously cannot figure out what is wrong. I have looked on many sites for anwsers but cannot find them. Nothing is helping. He has gone through 5 sheds with me now and everytime I have had to help him get it off.

Yup got to be something wrong. List your temps and humidity levels. Heat source and cage type. Your missing something.

Re: Still not shedding

I do NOTHING for my corn. He gets no added humidity ever and always sheds fine. I am guessing stress or something else is wrong.

Re: Still not shedding

When my corn was little (and in a screen-topped glass aquarium), he had one poor shed. After that I covered the lid with a towel and started misting every other day when he went blue, and he never had a problem after that.

When I moved to college, money and space were both scarce, so I moved him to a Rubbermaid tub set-up and he's had flawless sheds without any intervention ever since. We really need to have more information about your set-up. If you are using a glass terrarium, I would seriously consider moving to a tub or, at the very least, covering the lid with a towel and misting occasionally when he goes blue. Also, be very wary of anything less than an industrial strength humidity gauge or thermometer. The cheapo-depot ones you get at PetSmart are notoriously inaccurate.

Re: Still not shedding

My corn snake had bad sheds for a while, so I got her a humid hide. After a couple good sheds I took it out and all of her sheds have been fine since.

Re: Still not shedding

Sorry I haven't been on but his hot side tempature is 80-85 usually stays around 85. Cold side is 70-75 and I don't have a humidity gauge but I have a water bowl a moist hide and when he is in shed I spray him once a while. He eats well usually but when he is in shed he refuses to eat so I stopped trying to feed him in she'd after the second time... That's pretty much it anything else you want to know ill be glad to tell you.... Hope that helps.... Very open to suggestions

Re: Still not shedding

Do you use a lamp on a screen for heat?
What type of substrate?
Dies the snake prefer the warm or cool side?

Re: Still not shedding

If he's not shedding and you don't have a humidity gauge, that's probably a pretty good place to start.

Re: Still not shedding

What is your ambient humidity where you live? Corns are pretty hardy creatures but if you live somewhere particularly dry then it could be the issue

Re: Still not shedding

I live in alberta but I do spray him every once in a while.... If I really need to get a humidity gauge I will but I'm trying to avoid getting one.
