My snake may have lost teeth

So we normally go to Pets Plus and buy my snake which is approximately 4foot long a medium size rat, and she eats them easily. It has been 2 weeks (the normal time we wait to feed again) since we fed her and she is only eating one of the rats. The second she will attack and she will bite it, but she will not actually constrict and eat it. I have tried holding it by the tail for her to keep it from moving to much and letting her eat it that way, but she can not get the rat. She is about 4 years old and ive had her close to 8 months.

What makes you think the snake has lost some teeth?

Re: My snake may have lost teeth

Snakes lose a lot of teeth in their lives. I'm not sure what you're asking.

if the rats thawed (not alive) try letting her take the rat and just walk away. probably dont need a snake dentist though.

Re: My snake may have lost teeth

imo if your snakes not eating a 2nd prey item,it's simply not hungry enough after eating the first

what species is your snake ?

what makes you think it's lost teeth ?

if it has just keep an eye on,the sockets for infection,or bits of broken teeth

cheers shaun

It's a Ball python i am guessing. I would up the size of rat, but only feed one or just feed one medium. It sound like it just isn't that hunger.
