FIRST snake, possibly a carpet?
Hi all! I am the producer of a web show on youtube and started working with someone who loves snakes. After all the interaction with them, I have to admit, I went from thinking they were cool to falling in love with them. After holding and getting to know many different kinds, I have grown fond of the Carpet Python. Seeing how I am only going to get one, are there any other suggestions that I might enjoy? The ball pythons are cool but I don't know, I just can't see myself wanting one hahahah. The carpets have such pretty patterns but if there are any suggestions I could get before I make my decision!! Thanks y'all!!

A carpet was my first snake, if you have the room carpets are a great first snake.

Re: FIRST snake, possibly a carpet?
Just judging from your first post, I think a Carpet Python would be much better snake for you than a Ball Python. I just get the impression that you'll become bored of a Ball Python, especially if it's your only snake.
Carpets are bigger, more active, and like to climb and display themselves if you give them a nice setup.
Ball Pythons spend the vast majority of their time hidden away, they're very sweet and tolerant snakes though.

You won't be dissapointed with a carpet, the only thing you will struggle with is just owning 1

Excellent choice mate.... now it's going to be like a kid in a candy store trying to find the one you like the most with the myriad of carpet looks and sizes out there these days.
May I suggest a high yellow JCP such as this one or a nice high red bredli.

Re: FIRST snake, possibly a carpet?
Carpets are great snakes, but I have to disagree with getting a carpet as a "beginner snake". If you never had a snake before you should start off with a corn snake, they are much easier to care for and come in different colors and patterns.
