You still are keeping the snake without the obvious permission or approval of your landlord. Essentially, lying...

Murphy's law, "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong." applies well here. Better to be safe than sorry, it would be better for you to gain permission from your landlord to have the snake, and if they do allow one then you would be probably be able to keep them in better conditions as well, rather than in a closet (even a walk-in one).

Just roll with me here... What could be the worst case scenario if your landlord finds a snake and doesn't approve? Where will that land you and what will happen to the snake you will be sheltering?

Still there's this issue of keeping an RTB in a tote. They get pretty big. Not really a good snake to hide in a tote (because they can get out).

welcome!! get yourself a chap 24 qt. tub for him to live in untill he outgrows it, i use rubbermaid tubs for all of my snakes, they are very easy to modify and very inexpensive. there are many ways to heat them as well. I cut a screen top lid into a decent sized section and cut out a hole in the plastic lid of the tub and cut a scren lid into sections appropriate to the hole i cut and screwed it in. there are many other options but this seems to be the easiest/ affordable option. rubbermaid tubs are very easy to modify and simple to clean... they hold temp/ humidity extremely well and they are a fraction of the price of a glass tank..... you can use UTH'S to get the temp gradiant. tubs may not be the best eye pleasers but inch for inch they make great enclosures.

just make sure you drill enough holes for heat to escape but humidity to rise.. ( if that makes sense) and what i did was drill about 8 holes along the lid's top and aded cotter pims to make sure my snakes couldnt simply push the lid off of the tub ( trust me..... they will) and as far as drilling holes go, get a digital thermometer and a hydrometer (sp?) and monitor the tempss and humidity. start by drilling too FEW holes and monitor the conditions for an hour or so and add as needed. its much better to have to add an extra hole then try to plug too many holes. (if that makes sense)

Have you never had problems with escaping? When tubs are used in a rack it's much less common for this to happen because the wooden divider helps to secure the lid all the way around. But if you're just depending on those side clips you're asking for trouble and the first thing that snake will do is find it's way to his landlord's place (refer back to "Newton's law").

Lol I took care of the escape routes. I drilled 8 holes along the side of the lid and used cotter pins to secure the lid all the way around. It's pretty escape proof.

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to see my snake push her way out right in front of me lol I even went all out and got the lid with the locking handles but they proved to be useless so I had to get a little creative. Anyone interested in using tubs should ALWAYS modify the lids to make them escape proof. The lids on their own are useless...

Haha it's based on a real movie! I saw the SP episode and was forced by curiosity to seek out the actual movie. Some messed up stuff! It's called "human centipede" and the SP episode isn't too far off haha the only difference was these Guys didn't click agree haha. " I'll be your genius today" haha
