Talking milksnake update

I took someones advice on my previous thread! I am still wide awake so I thought I would test out the suggestion, kids are in bed all is quiet so I got Milkshake (thats what my daughter named her snake) and took him out of his enclosure and held him with a paper towel under him and no pee or poop or bites! YAY! Now I know I need to be the one that does the handling for awhile and at night after kids go to bed with the lights dim. Worked like a charm. Once I figure out how to quote someone on a new thread I will give credit where it is due. So keep my fingers crossed that he continues with this improvement!

Glad to hear all is going well, if everyone can get over the initial phase of milks being wild as babies and juveniles. The will enjoy them that much more when they become great calm adults with a little work. Keep up the good work.

Talking Re: milksnake update

Thanks I have a suspision that the reason the people sold him so fast was because of his attitude they owned ball pythons and expected this one to ball up and do nothing I dont have anything against balls they are cool snakes but much more even tempered than a milk

Re: milksnake update

How old is "Milkshake" and do you know what subspecies it is? If the snake is younger than six months to a year it may continue the thrashing around and musking for a while. Patience is the key, and some people just want instant gratification....

Yea, once "Milkshake" gets a little bigger, roughly 6 months to a year, you will see a huge change in disposition. They first year is usually when milks are scared and the just want to try and flee. Takes a while for them to understand your not going to harm them.
