New enclosure day!!!

Today was cage building day
Taking advice from Mykee in another thread I started, I contacted a local plastics company and got a PVC product (food/restaurant grade). I had them cut to my dimensions and today I put together.... So here it is.....

All of the pieces...

Back and floor

Drilling ventilation holes

Beginning to look like something

LED lights and heating receptacle wired in, also plexiglas panels in place

very nice! how much was the pvc and cost to cut it ? did you use 1/8" glass or plexi? i like how you cut the glass slides right into the pvc. how did you attached the sides? just screws?

Re: New enclosure day!!!

I'll have to pull the invoice but around 180.00 for PVC and plexiglas. It is actually 1/2" HDPE. I asked if they would be able to cut the slides and they said no problem. Its all laser cut material in their shop. It is put together with wood screws (I tried self tapping, but material too hard) and I ran a bead of silicone in the edges.

Re: New enclosure day!!!

That looks great, prob need to win the lotto to get that made in Ireland. That'll last forever like, 100% moisture resistant, is it heavy?

Re: New enclosure day!!!

Thanks guys for the kind words. Jack C...it's not as heavy as my melamine enclosures. Very manageable. Is HDPE expensive in Ireland?

It looks like I'm going to need to lay some spline material in the grooves just to "snug up" plexiglass panels.

Re: New enclosure day!!!

Shaun....if you only knew how "unhandy" I really am! My wife can't understand how at work I can keep someone's heart beating, but can't fix the toilet. It really wasn't that tough to put together. The folks at the plastics place made all the cuts perfectly. After that it was just drilling pilot holes and putting together. Thanks again you guys for the kind words.
