Mouse only had 4 babies?

Finally one of my mice gave birth...she was extremely pregnant, so fat she could barely walk. Because of this, I was expecting tons of babies, but for some reason she only had four. What could that mean? Maybe she is older than I thought...also she must have ate one because there are only 3 now.

They do sometimes eat babies, also if it's her first litter, first litters are generally small.
