Lavender phase
Is it just that? A phase? Or do they phase into the purple? Do they all have to be lavender phase? What constitutes a lavender phase vs not?

Re: Lavender phase
A lavender phase is the result of a purple Clark strain albino bred with a white Clark strain albino. A purple when hatched can look lavender or almost caramel, a lavender usually comes out almost white looking, and a white phase is VERY white. A lav is and will always be a lavender. Its not like with Amazons where a garden phase can turn yellow, orange, or red over time. I still can't always tell the difference between lav's and purples.
Purple x purple = all purples
white x white = all whites
Purple x white = all lav
lav x lav = all three
purple and lav, and lav and white, you'll get what the parents are.

You know, they don't break bylaws and such. Kind of a cool thing about them. Also doesn't take 5767 people to handle one just for routine maintenance.
To my knowledge, if you bred a purple to any of the three you'd actually get a mix. From the early on breedings, and I mean like 10 years ago, that's what was happening. Maybe Kyle is right and it's changed since.
I would go on over to Bob Clark's site and e-mail them, the founders of the entire line and ask them. To my knowledge you can breed any of them and still get a chance at any of them.
Actually, I just went and quickly browsed his site. Check his articles, in particular the one from 2002 about retics. There's a few paragraphs of the first albino retic project that he did and how all three came from the same founding male.

Re: Lavender phase
Yeah, i went and read it on Clark's site...it's amazing how that came from one male!! (and I get the honor of having one of his snakes, even if it isn't a lavender!). =D

Re: Lavender phase
That's pretty wicked. I'm highly jealous I never get to own any Bob Clark snakes. I always used to want to while in my mid - late teens.
I'm sad to see his old site disappear though. Had a wicked forum where I spent years learning all about boids and the giants in particular. I credit that forum to a lot of my knowledge and the people who were a part of it.

Re: Lavender phase
Ugh... Bob Clark... don't get me started, he was one of the pioneers, but he's not the best, too many nightmare stories from customers in the past few years. He's lost a lot of respect from both sides of the Nation/Monsters side. He's still got some great animals, but that doesn't excuse him for what he's done. That said he does seem to be turning things around so I have to give credit where its due.
There's been a LOT of debate on this topic recently on the Nation and what I posted seems to be the general consensus. You'll find breeders are starting to label things as "het purple" and "het white" to denote what the parents were, and the het purples create only purples and the het whites create only whites. I'm not sure if anybody has actually tried a het white to a het purple. There's a big long thread that you can read if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah, I saw that....This snake is SUPER healthy and gorgeous, so at least he's trying again. I just didn't know exactly what the lavender phase meant =3 Haha, is it all the info about bob, or about lavender vs white vs purple?

Re: Lavender phase
If the animal did indeed come from Bob, it WILL have paperwork. Make sure it does.

Re: Lavender phase
That thread is all about lav, white, purple. I will say this about Bob, I saw his animals at the last expo, and even though I didn't handle any, they all appeared to be in great shape, didn't see any evidence of mites, or rub, or anything. But if you're buying from Bob, you're gonna pay "Bob prices", which really aren't any different that Prehistoric Pets prices.

Re: Lavender phase
Haha, I'm not paying bob prices, as I'm getting him from a friend ;D We worked out a deal for 300 and a plush (I make stuffed animals). He's the one who paid the prices xD

This. Anyone can lie just to make a quick buck out of anything they aren't interested in anymore.
