^^^ What she said. ^^^
If your water dish is of a light color it is rather easy to spot mites.

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
Depends on the individual snake... My dwarf boa loves to soak, even when not in she'd and temps are fine. With how warm it's been lately are you keeping an eye on the cold end temperatures as this may be the issue.

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
My male boa will soak all day for a day or 2 before a shed. When they come out of the water dish have a look in the water for dead mites. If there are non don't worry about it. If there are treat all your snakes for mites.

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
I have a female BCI. She will soak 24/7 about a week or so before shed. This despite appropriate humidity/temp/etc. I thought mites could be an issue when I first encountered this, but none were ever to be found. It's just her....

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
As said above the main difficulty in the uk ATM is keeping cool sides cool.
My BRB has sat in her dish for nearly 2days before and I haven't found any problems with either husbandry or mites however it is reall important you check.
Hope it all turns out ok!

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
The most common reasons for a snake to soak for an extended period of time are:
- Approaching a shed
- Enclosure is too hot
- Mites
Pictures of the snake, enclosure, and temps could help us help you narrow it down. But if you see little dark dots crawling on your snake it's mites.

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
I had a boa a while back that would always soak, because i didn't have a hide. as soon as i put in a hide, and some cover she stopped doing it. she may be going in to feel secure

Re: Boa soaks in water all day
I have a boa that will soak for days at a time all year around been checked for mites he always done that as a baby I talked with the vet he said some snakes do that I pull him out everyday and dry him off and play with him then put him back by the time I go to bed he is back in his water bowl so as long as you dont find mites just do as I do should take her out and she will be fine
