Yes you're right that is a lot brighter than mine, if mine is even a hypo...I will get some pics of his/her belly tomorrow!

yup, alot of times the belly pattern (or lack thereof) tells the tale of what you have

I agree with the hypo conclusion. It's a pretty snake, for sure.

Oh ok. Sorry that I don't know this, but what is the difference between a hypo and an amel?

lets put the pics next to each other and see.

A Hypo has reduced black coloring. An Amel has none at all.
A Hypo more closely resembles a Normal. An Amel more closely resembles an Albino, just more red and orange.

They change color with each shed until they are adults. For Example:

Hypo-Amel Hatchling

Hypo-Amel Yearling

Hypo-Amel Adult

Re: What type of corn snake do i have?

So even though yours doesn't look like a hypo hatchling, or a hypo adult. It does look somewhere in between.

Hatchling

Adult

A hypo will have belly checkering, a hypo amel will not

Re: What type of corn snake do i have?

Congrats on your new addition! I'm pretty sure it's a hypo as well.

Re: What type of corn snake do i have?

Normals can vary a lot so I would not be so quick to call your snake a hypo. If his belly checks are black he is a normal and if they are brownish he is most likely an amel. The only way to prove it would be to breed it to a hypo or a snake that is hypo with something else, eg a ghost which is a hypo anery.

Amelanistics lack back. They do have belly checkers, they can just be very light. Amelanistics have red pupils. Motleys and diffuseds (bloodreds) have no belly checks.

Re: What type of corn snake do i have?

You could be right, but it has so little black, I think it's a hypo.
