How do chameleons shed?

Do they shed in peices, or all in one peice? I would think a properly hydrated and properly humidified chameleon would shed in at least mostly one peice.

I went to a fish store the other day, and they had two chameleon's on display...one was in full shed in tons of pieces rubbing all over and rubbing it's face. It was sad! The did not have a mister, though they did have a bubbler with a water dish at the bottom of this big screen cage...far away from the chameleon. I nicely suggested they might have more misting, and they said they were looking for the spray bottle, and that the way it was shedding was perfectly normal.

I'd been reading that the true conditions for chameleons would be total ventilation and humidity, that they drink off of leaves, and require a lot of mist. Also that they do not live as long in captivity as they do in the wild, due to poor management.

Thoughts?

Re: How do chameleons shed?

Not sure about chameleons but when we had our two lizards they always shed in large pieces.
