Facing my fears...
I think...
I'm getting a baby leopard gecko tomorrow and the breeder highly recommended feeding dubias. I hate roaches. That and probably centipedes are my only fear in life.
But since they're better for the gecko than crickets, I'm gonna at least try.
What's the best way to keep dubias so that I don't ever have to see them or feel their presence unless I'm feeding? (which I'm probably gonna make my roomie do lol)
They're for sure gonna be living in the garage. The guy is super nice and giving me some heat tape for free.
I can't believe I'm gonna do this. My heart is racing.

Re: Facing my fears...
I know some people just put them on top of one of the snake enclosures, but with a dubia colony you have to make sure you provide them fresh food every day.

Re: Facing my fears...
They eat lots of stuff, but only feed them stuff you would feed your lizard. None of that gross artificial crap.

Re: Facing my fears...
A great guide for feeding roaches is the fruit and vegetable guide recommended for blue tongue skinks. Check out bluetongueskinks.org.

Re: Facing my fears...
Lol, you guys are a riot. Get a heat mat and set it up on a thermostat under your enclosure of choice for the roaches. As far as temp goes someone else should know that.
