Does this look obese to you?

Today I took out my bci and noticed he was a "little" on the heavy side. I'm not really the one that takes care and feeds him. My brother does that. But he left Jabez in my care for a few weeks because right now he doesn't have time to give him full attention. Anyway, he feed Jabez live large rats almost every week... I think he changed it to every other week now, which is probably better. This snake, looks to me, like he's way too fat for his size. Maybe it's just me. I notice a lot of males have a bit larger girth than females, but I just want to make sure. He's almost 5 feet long and about 2 years old. Here are a few pics...

P.s. - He hasn't eaten in 3 weeks (the pics were taken today) and he still looks super huge. Plus he always acts like he's hungry, and he's always sticking his head up in the air, which I heard was something that has to do with their nose? Is that true?

Thanks

He looks pretty good but a large rat a week could be too much I agree with a large rat every other week. I also think that the reason he's puting his head in the air is because he's probably use to the feeding schedule your brother had him on. You have a beautifull snake there!!

Thanks guys! Glad he's healthy... I thought he was obese for a sec there, but since he's one of my only 2 boas I wasn't sure.

Looks like a very healthy boa ! Did your brother feed him in his own enlcosure ??When i fed my snakes in the enclosure they did the same thing and even bit me a few times so they think as soon as something comes in the enclosure they think it's feeding time so now i feed my snakes in boxes!
So now they don't do it anymore

regads ,

Well, actually he feeds his in a 50 gallon rubbermaid . I'm trying to get him to feed Jabez in his own cage once he gets bigger so he won't be as aggressive, and learn that everytime he gets picked up it doesn't mean there's food coming. I've heard a lot of stories of people getting attaked by their snakes just for that very reason.
I also notice that my snakes have a bit calmer attitude when fed in their own enclosure than when they were when fed in a seperate container. Thanks for asking!

Me personally I like to go by how the snake feels. You know how fat is soft and muscle is hard. Feel the snake and you be the judge. Thats what I go by. Good lookin snake though.
