V. cumingi Breeding
You have no idea how excited I am to post about the progress of these animals. This past week all three animals have shown little interest in food. I figured out why when I caught the male with the larger female a few days ago. I wasn't able to confirm they were breeding as they had gone behind the stump in the enclosure and I could only view their tails. Once back there the female stopped moving and I could see the male was able to slip his tail under the females but that's all I could see. Today I was able to snap a picture (sorry for the quality, it was taken through the window of the enclosure which needs to be cleaned). I am now going crazy with anticipation! I still have a long way to go but atleast I am moving forward! I have not caught the male with the smaller female yet but she has also shown alot of interest in the nest box. I hope you enjoy this picture as much as I am! As far as I know this would be the first US Breeding of V. cumingi here in the states. Still a long way away from the first Captive Bred V. cumingi in the US.

Nice job, and congratulations! Its definitely a nice enclosure you have them in, so it was just a matter of time.

Re: V. cumingi Breeding
I should be able to tell as time goes on but I will expect eggs in around 30 days or so. With monitors the issues are not with getting the animals to breed. My nest box needs to be up to par with the girls and then it's the long incubation period. I held out a long time (seems like forever) for these guys. Hatchling out these beautiful animals would be the icing on the cake. They have been going at it all day and now into the night...not sure I'll be getting any sleep tonight!!!
