Can you tell me anything interested about corn snakes at about age 2-3??
Corn snakes got their name both from the pattern on their belly, which looks like indian corn, and from old southern farmers who stored their harvested corn in wooden buildings called cribs. Rats and mice were attracted to the cribs to feed on the corn, and corn snakes were attracted to the cribs to feed on the rodents, much to the delight and appreciation of the farmers.

(blatantly stolen from: Corn Snake Pictures & Facts)

corn snakes are colubrids, which means they are closely related to king and milk snakes. Corn snakes are "north american red rat snakes" apparently. (according to wikipedia!)

*shrug* cant find much either haha

i dont have a corn snake, so im not exactly an expert :P

The coolest thing about my 2 year old pair is that if I tap on their tub they will come out no matter what and investigate

This is a great book about corn snakes, Kylie Amazon.com: Corn Snakes: The Comprehensive Owner's Guide (Herpetocultural Library, The) (0748869707066): Kathy Love, Bill Love: Books

also, the author (Kathy Love) is the one who sold me my corn snake way back in the day... didn't know that at the time though! Just a cool fact

snakes are so much faster than most people realize, they try not to move a lot to preserve energy but if they want they could book it and we'd never catch them

It takes time and patience to get them to trust you.

Re: First time snake owner, looking for help!

So the whole peice must mean that im doing something right, as the previous owners said she shed in peises last time.

Does it hurt them or make their skin sensitive to shed? just out of curiosity

( sorry half asleep and so excited, cant spell)

Re: First time snake owner, looking for help!

Make sure you check the tip of the tail and the eyecaps are enclosed in the shed, a nuce one piece like that means good husbandry so well done!!

I tend to leave my snakes alone for 24 hours after a shed, i believe it is tiring for them.

Re: First time snake owner, looking for help!

I checked the shed, i saw both eyes and head, theres a little snag but i checked her and dont see any shed left on her so it might be in the tank, so im feeding her tomorrow then 3-4 days later im going to be moving her into her new home and ill check for the missing peice, but it does not seem to be on her. shes beautiful, both her eyes look normal ( red ) her body is bright and colorful, her tummys white and before she had what looked like a scab on her head well its gone. she also pooped LOL

i havnt seen her pee yet...but who knows its white so could be in the shavings i guess...
