Good cheap gram scale?
So, there isnt really an "acessories" section, so i guess enclosures sort of applies
I'm looking for a good cheap gram scale that will be relatively accurate just for approximating food weight and weighing my snakes to see how much they're growing every once in a while.
There are a few on amazon ive been looking at but i figured id ask if anyone has good experience with a specific brand or otherwise.
everything has a limit of about 1000g, Im assuming ill need one that goes up a bit past that for when they get bigger (my black milksnake now and soon to be BRB)
thanks!

Re: Good cheap gram scale?
I don't know about past 1,000 grams, but they 20-30 dollar ones at smoke shops are good.

Re: Good cheap gram scale?
The digital baby scale my vet uses can measure everything from a mouse to a 12 pound lizard, I can ask her what make it is...

Re: Good cheap gram scale?
Reptile basics has one that goes up to 7000 grams for under $40. I'll let you know how it is when mine comes in a few days. Remind me if I forget.

yeah those never really go past a kilo.. probably a good thing too
I could actually use the gram scale for other things as well, pipe tobacco being the main other use, i trade blends with people all the time on other forums and just guesstimate mostly

no big deal, but if you see her im curious! they're probably expensive, i know at the lab we use Ohaus scales, but they're about $5,000 each cause they're accurate to 0.0001 grams

I looked up the model they have, its like $35 on amazon but it has a few bad reviews on its durability

I found mine to be useful for a lot more things than I bought it for. Once you have it it's surprisingly used a lot. I measure chemicals for tanning hides, weighing eggs, measuring amounts of wild edible plants, cooking, and reducing things like tallow and pine pitch to see the raw materials vs. final product.

Re: Good cheap gram scale?
My OXO brand scale weighs up to 11 lbs (~5,000g) and it cost me about $30 but it has a pull out display tab

got a pic of it? i can compare it to the ones they have on the website :P
most "cheapo" scales seem to die or become really off calibration wise after a while, which is why im trying to find a reliable one even if it isn't super accurate, just needs to be consistent

Re: Good cheap gram scale?
I have the one Norm was talking about and I have no cotmplaints. It does its job, I can weight hatchlings and I can weight my big adult female carpets. Very versatile and great for what I need it for.
