Just out of curiousity
Not to open another "can of worms" as silke said. But why was the ethics in the reptile trade thread closed? I know it was getting stupid, but is this an attempt to get it off the main page?
if so, thats pretty lame.

Do you really feel the need to always stir things up??? You already have 2 banned user names. I have recieved several PMs from outside parties asking it to be closed and comlaining about the nature and where its going. I dont even know why i explain or justify myself to you repeatedly. If you feel you cann run a forum in a better manner then please feel free to start one up and run it however you see fit. If people feel the need to discuss it further please take it to a site that is dedicated to these types of things. Arguing oversuch matters is a waste of everyones time and having to justify myself to you is a waste of mine.

it's all well and good having a "free" thread, but if it gets personal then its not good for anyone. ffrom what i saw about the ethics post, was, that like many other threads the last page or 2 is completly off subject. v.aw i agree it is good to be able to discuss things openly, but there needs to be rules and regulations.
jeff, thanks for the explanation, and i appreciate that the frustration u feel, but i do feel that if ppl argue then all the better, maybe we can all unite and put an end to threats to our passion. it's happening in england and it an happen here and the usa
cheers
paul

Paul, i see where you are coming from, but when you start to allow arguing on the forums, it wont end... as you can see the arguing started yesterrday and there has been 4 threads now related to the same thing or spawning from the same thing and eventually the whole thing will go to poop. I have seen it happen on other forums and i wont let it happen here. If people wish to discuss negative things about people in this hobby wether a member, breeder or pet store, there are forums out there that are specificly made for this type of thing. There is so much postive things to discuss with this hobby, there is no need to flood the forums with negativity. If you would like to discuss these other things, please take it to the board of inquiry. http://www.boardofinquiry.com
This isnt directed at you Paul.

fair shout fella, i admit that i do have some very strong and maybe (!) stuborn opinions! but like u said a line has to be drawn somewhere.
it's just that back home the exact same thing happened. ten years ago i was at a reptile show and was asked to sign a petition stopping "animal aid" from banning reptiles as pets. at first i didn't believe that it was needed, but now...jesus if we'd known!
cheers
paul
ps i did sign anyway! thats the rebel in me. lol

I will write up some Terms of Service this weekend, so that it will be very clear as to what is allowable and what isnt allowed on these forums. I really hold this web site in high regards, and i have invested ALOT of time into it (5 hours a day, AFTER working a 7:00am - 4:30pm job lifting drywall). I pride it in beinig a friendly atmosphere for ANYONE to share POSITIVE thoughts and posts that everyone can enjoy. I am not favorign ANYONE and i am not trying to hide what the rules are... Negativity will not be tolerated here in any shape or form. I really hate even have to make posts like this at all.

What you did was indirectly accuse me of closing it to get it off of the main page. If you read the thread the last poster asked for the thread to be deleted, him being 1 of 5, so instead of deleting it (because then i would have been acccused of deleting it to cover something up) I closed it to end the discussion. I wont be replying to this thread anymore, the TOS will be up tommorow and it will explain everything..

I just hope this new "no tolerance" policy on negativity will apply equally to moderators as well as the members...I've seen some really offensive and ignorant posts by the former that have not been dealt with nearly so severely.
