Re: Blue tongue skink and tegus
Great pictures! I've been wanting to add a larger lizard to my group. Those are great looking animals.

Breathing, I don't recall ever being more envious of a collection. Just amazing. When we move to a more reptile friendly town, I'd love to have a monitor/tech/lizard worthy of a leash one day!

Re: Blue tongue skink and tegus
Thank you everybody.
Maya had to be taught to accept the leash. She has a favorite treat, and when she stepped in the leash (loose), she gets the treat. It's become a "mark" for her. She comes out, she sees the leach on the floor, and she walks into it. She gets treats while I tighten it, and gets her treats the whole time she wears it. She will be starting in an educational show, so she needs to wear it (the kids aren't big on the bloody wrists if I hold her. She has very sharp claws.)

Re: Blue tongue skink and tegus
Not the kids, my wrists. I don't let kids hold her. But young kids don't like the look of blood, even tiny scratches.
In high school, I had to meet with a therapist because they thought I was cutting. My response "No, I keep monitor lizards". I had to have my mom in to confirm.

No no i realize that. what I meant to say was kids crying and you running around holding your wrists up covered in blood. "calm down kids it's just ketchup!" lol.
I didn't think you would allow them to hold them. There are not to many people I let hold my animals...not for fear of them getting hurt more for fear of my animals getting hurt.
One little movement and someone gets freaked out then ooops, my snake/lizard has been dropped on the floor.

Re: Blue tongue skink and tegus
Exactly. They can all pet them, but not hold them.
