Exclamation Have to give aggressive snake injections :/

Hey guyss, So my emerald tree boa has a respiratory infection I have to give him these shots for 7 days. My biggest concern is that he is kinda edgy. Like one minute he is fine and the next he is biting me. Its super hard to tell what he is thinking. Like one day he was all cool and hanging on my arm. And the next he is biting my hand! So any ideas on how to grab him easily? Please!

You could put his head in a snake bag.
Or a tube if you have one.
Or just secure the neck gently.

Re: Have to give aggressive snake injections :/

Would it be better to grab him behind the head and then work him off the perch?

If you don't need to grab in by the head don't. I'm not sure if etb's are like gtps but gtps are delicate...

Use a tube if you have one, otherwise do it with someone else, have them hold him and be gentle and deliberate.

Okay. I'm being gentle and I do have someone else to help me. But it's super difficult to get him off the perch without getting bit.

make your perch detatchable

that way you just take the perch out with the snake on it,its much easier to get the snake off the perch once its out the tank

Detachable perches are awesome, but may I ask why you plan to remove the snake from it? The way I see it, hes holding on to something he can't harm, and if you hold him and the perch you have much more control. Depending on where his head is, hes going to have a hard time biting you around it.

Watch out for twitches btw, don't want to break the needle.
