Re: Albino applegate gopher
She is pretty.. you handle her a ton! Make sure you give her 48hrs after she eats before you handle her again. (if you don't already do this)

Re: Albino applegate gopher
She's very beautiful. 3-5 times a day is A LOT of handling... especially for a young snake. I would probably cut down on the handling. A few times a week would be more appropriate, in my opinion.

Re: Albino applegate gopher
Thanks for the advice. We know to leave her be after eating for a couple days. As far as overhandling. Well I have 3 boys who all want a turn. She seems quite happy being handled. Se doesn't try to flee and even comes out of her hide when we open the viv lid. If I notice any change in behavior I'll have the kids cut back. Thanks again for commenting.

Re: Albino applegate gopher
Is she new? I think once the wave of a new pet passes they'll handle her less. As long as she looks healthy and she seems okay I don't think it's a problem.

Re: Albino applegate gopher
Yup shes new. First reptile too. Makes me feel like a kid again seeing as I caught my last snake probably 30 yrs ago. Honnestly if I didn't already know snakes are never truly tamed I would think she liked being handled and didn't just tolerate it.

Re: Albino applegate gopher
Bath time!! Never seen her do this yet. I thought it was not typical for colubrids but hey why not. Enjoy!! She just hit 20" too. Growing like a weed!!

Re: Albino applegate gopher
Very nice looking.
Just keep it mind even though she may not look to mind all the attention, she still may not appreciate it much and stress isn't good for the baby girl. Good to know they're enjoying her though.
My corn likes to go for a swim sometimes. If this is the first time you've seen it than probably nothing to worry about. If you notice it often it could be a tip off to something like mites, or temps being off. Like I said though- that's only if you see it often.
Enjoy her!
