Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
If its a passion and a hobby of his then alls good. But if its a fad/ phase then as soon as hes no longer seen with it you may find his fans lose interest. And obviously his fan base is young, so how many of those kids parents do you think will look after the boas after that.... not many im guessing.

Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
I've got mixed feelings on this. If he really takes care of the boa and maybe discusses in an interview or something how great they are and how to properly take care of them, that's one thing, but I don't see that happening. I wish more people would try to educate people, I get so sick of hearing peoples say ewww when I mention we have snakes.

Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
I get the "ewww" comment a lot! And I always say "no, not ewww. That is not the proper response" haha I have actually helped a couple people overcome their irrational fears with my very friendly and chill bp. I also get the response "really?! You don't look like you would own a snake! Don't you need tattoos and piercings?" haha
As far as Justin. It looks like he treats it as a fashion accessory.. not a live animal. Hope he has hired someone to care for it.

Not only is he likely going to cause a craze like Nismo said, but HE'S not even done his research. Can't stand it.

Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
This is the EXACT reason why I want to use my reptiles for education purposes in local schools. To talk to kids about the fun things, get them exposed so they don't just go "ewww", and talk to them about proper care and how sometimes it isn't always so easy to do. So far though schools are turning me down because I am not a "professional" and then I ask myself...what is a professional? A breeder? Someone from the zoo?
Whatever the case this Bieber thing pisses me off and I hope to god stores don't start promoting snakes just because of it. I also hope some competent parents step forward and tell their kids they can't have a snake. That is something I inwardly thank my mom for everyday. Not allowing me to have a reptile at all until I was in college. Even then I didn't take care of that little swift lizard properly.

Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
i always wear my snake as a fashion statement and i live in brooklyn ny wear everyone stares im also a rapper and my snakes are part of my image. my snakes have been around loud music for years and is use to people holding them. i wear my snakes when i perform. so i dont see a problem with exposing a snake in front of lots of people. when i perform i have three snakes around me perfectly find im well aware of their movements and mine. snakess already has a bad name thats why they need to be exposed to the public.

So putting them in a stressfull situation, where theres a good chance that they may one day show a member of the public their bad side and lash out is a good idea then?
Dont get me wrong, im all for educating the general public and giving snakes a chance to be seen as the wonderful animals they are and not the "mindless killers" that the media makes them out to be. However, thats not education your doing, its stressing an animal out for your "image"
. Sitting down in a calm room with people, and talking to them.. letting them ask questions and letting the braver ones hold the snake is a better way to go about it.
if yours ever lashed out and hurt someone at a gig, explain theyre stressed/scared all you like. Because all people will remember is this nasty, dangerous snake bit somebody for no reason.
Each to their own tho, at the end of the day its what works for you.

Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
Snakes arent fashion items and need proper tmeperatures and humidity to be well. They also arent social creatures and need to be able to hide away when they want to. THey also sense vibrations much more than we do so exposing them to loud music is not a good thing.
Yes we all handle our snakes occassionally but hopefully we are sensible enough not to expose them to conditions that are detrimental to their health and wellbeing.

So much wrong with this...I find it really sad that you use your animals in these situations. It's not ok....

Re: Anyone see Bieber's boa?
I agree, my snake cages are set up in my bedroom, so that I can choose quiet, peaceful times to bring them out. But also remember that "pythonboa" is also the one who in the "what do you do for a living" thread, put up that (s)he was a "street pharmacist" so expecting good decisions may be a bit too much to ask
