keeping humidity up

This question gets asked a lot, I thought it would be good to have a thread for people to post their ways of keeping humidity up.

I have a glass tank with a screen top. I put a big water bowl above my UTH, and I covered most of the screen top with heavy plastic.
Also, I mist heavily and stir up his substrate daily. And I use coco husk and repti bark as a substrate, the coco husk holds humidity well.
When my BP is shedding, I put a fountain in his tank which he likes to play in and I find that it helps up the humidity.
Any other tips and tricks?
Of course a wooden enclosure is best, but a lot of people do use glass ranks.

Re: keeping humidity up

I've got a large glass terrarium, covered the top with laminated wood, plastic would work too. I spray the walls and put ONE of the water bowls above the UTH, within about 45 seconds the entire terrarium is a sauna, and it stays that way for hours.
Another simple method is to make a humid hide.

I just heavily mist daily... i mix in spaghnum moss with bark and that holds the humidity pretty well.

Re: keeping humidity up

We are lucky in the uk that relative humidity raely gets below 50% so a good mist is usually enough.

Keep waving that in front of us :P Meany! Our humidity drops down to like 10-15% in the winter.

Re: keeping humidity up

Pouring tea on the floor is only a temporary way of raising humidity!!

Re: keeping humidity up

I have 2 water bowls in my Yellow Anacondas and Borneo Short-tail to keep the humidity. One big enough to soak in and one to drink. My Dumeril and BRB i just mist every couple days. Like Rob we have 80% humidity almost all summer so don't have to do anything right now to keep it up. It also helps that all my cages are made of plastic. This really help keeping the humidity in.
