Re: is my female bp gravid yet?

Truthfully, I thought he was treated pretty good all things considered. This community has been so nice and welcoming I would be hard pressed to believe he was treated harshly.

Especially considering he was hard and fast trying to breed his snakes by just tossing three in a tank and expecting a pregnancy (he did post two other threads regarding the breeding of his snakes.)

A lot of people like to use this one phrase when someone feels someone was mistreated. I agree that we all did start somewhere, we were all "noobs" at one time but most of us didn't jump into the deep end from the get go or not take advice when given. I didn't randomly throw three snakes into an enclosure and then ask others to spoon feed me the information I needed to know before doing so!

Could not have said it any better Aaron. You always got just the right way of putting things sometimes.

Re: is my female bp gravid yet?

I may be new to snake owning and never bred any, but I would never consider putting two males together let alone two males and a female. Even I realize that's a bad idea. I think he should do some research and get a good set-up and then try again when he's ready to be responsible.

Re: is my female bp gravid yet?

I have reversed bans before, all it takes is an apology........

However we did begin enforcing a zero tolerance for name calling after a certain member made it a point to insult nearly everyone here.

I belong to a LOT of forums, and I can honestly say our community is one of the exceptionally rare ones that has virtually no flaming or fighting.

In the real world people who disrupt communities are arrested for disorderly conduct, I can't do that here, so offenders are banned immediately.

That is why so many new people are coming around lately. Because of your 0 tolerance for rather rude individuals and what not newcomers to the snake owning world generally feel comfortable coming here to look for help or comrades. I know I did in the beginning and everyone here has helped me out more than once! Not to mention its just awesome to chat around with the people I know and generally be a bit silly about things.

Whatever, I didn't know the guy. Forget it, y'all respond how you want. Getting somebody pissed off is never better in the long run! Wasn't saying to spoon feed anybody info, just to help a person who was way over their head. So that maybe he didn't kill his snakes due to owner negligence. **** benefiting him, we all love snakes and had a chance to save them. One person makes a negative comment and all the rest dive into the fun. It's a joke, step back and think about what your doing. Would it really have been that hard to calmly explain the steps he should/shouldn't take? Why's it gotta be so cut throat?

We did explain the steps- the first of which is rehoming 2 of the snakes. He didn't like these steps, and got very defensive over it. It's not like you can just select which parts of proper husbandry you want and disregard the rest, or you aren't helping the snakes.

He put his ego ad pride ahead of his animals, and now they both pay for it. It's no better than us telling him to add water to the enclosure, and him yelling "NO I DONT LIKE WATER". Then getting mad when we tell him he's going to kill his animals.

Was it cut throat? Harsh words were spoken in the beginning BUT no one did personal insults and such until after the individual decided to get hostile and didn't want to listen to us. Obviously the truth hurt a bit to much.

And if he had his setups and such where they needed to be and we simply misunderstood him then there were ways of explaining himself better! But in the end he "swung" first by using profanity. We might have been "rough" but he was outright rude.

Re: is my female bp gravid yet?

I have to agree with the majority here....if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen as my Grandma always says, lol! I've always loved snakes, all animals actually, and have been relocating wild snakes out of my yard for years. However, before I decided to actually purchase a snake for myself and my daughter, I researched different types of snakes for a while before I actually purchased them. At 12, I felt a corn was good for my daughter and felt I could handle a smaller boa and went with the columbian rainbow that I just fell in love with. I have been on this internet constantly researching everything I can to make sure I give these guys the best possible life I can provide for them, after all, they didn't ask to live with me. I've asked questions on here that tell you that I'm a newbie, lol, but I've also researched these questions online, I ask so I can get advice from actual snake owners in a more "live help" type setting. Critisism is constructive......if I am doing something wrong that could be harmful to my snakes, for god sake tell me. I could care less about my feelings or ego, the most important thing is the health and happiness of the animal.
