Heat lamp question

I recently purchased a large iguana custom built cage and I’m in the process of converting it for my 7 ft Red tail boa. The cage is 7ft tall and 4ft wide and a corner unit.
The problem that I am having is the lights that were use for the iguana was the long tube UV lights. This will not work for my snake because they are unprotected and he could pull them out and break them easily. .. Not to mention the fact, of them not being good heat lamps!
Any who, I have been looking for heat lamps with a cage guard to keep my snake from burning himself.
Not an easy thing to do. The only web sites that even recognize the need are either in Canada or the UK. This, by the way is not a problem, except that I need a visual to go by.
So I have ended up buying a hamster cage for $40 and converting it for my heat lamp.
Has anyone come across this problem and have suggestions that may be some help?
