Awww, she is gorgeous! Aren't carpets just the best? My Voodoo loves the shower rod and showerhead too...hehehe. I especially love your second pic- she looks really fierce!

Re: Scarlett is quite the photogenic snake
Isn't she
She's pretty awesome, and so energetic and quite the handful! She's still in her "want to get away from me phase" as expected as it's only her 3rd day here, but very fun to handle! She's a big sweet heart, all hiss and no bite.

Re: Scarlett is quite the photogenic snake
In my experience, carpets are always in motion. All of my guys cruise around and explore while I'm holding them. Voodoo will come out of his cage when I open the door and usually crawl right onto my shoulders, but then he's all over the place- looking around, stretching, craning his neck to check things out. They are always a handful, but so much fun. Sooo much personality, or "snake-onality" as I call it.
Also, I've noticed that, when excited, carpets huff and breathe loudly. It's not quite a hiss, not quite not. But there's no aggression too it; I would liken it to a dog panting from being excited about something. Only my carpets do it, but they all do and I've never seen a tensing or a strike. Just the half-hiss/huff when they come out and explore.

I love it! Holding a limp snake that just hangs around is no fun, it's so much fun watching her explore, you described how they act perfectly.
That's interesting about breathing loudly. The sound definitely doesn't sound like a deep throated hiss, I just assumed it was as I've never experience a snake "panting". It'll be interesting to see if she still does it in the months to come.
Scarlett is still rather un-interested in me and would rather get away, as expected with all the changes in her life recently, but I'm sure I'll grow on her

Re: Scarlett is quite the photogenic snake
Great Pics! She reminds me a lot of my big coastal. I have noticed the chuffing sound from him as well. And just recently, I started hearing it in our little Jungle cross. It's kind of cute.

Re: Scarlett is quite the photogenic snake
Awww she's so adorabllle! The more and more I see carpets, combined with my experience with handling an adult, the more I reeeeaaally want one. That excited huff and puff fact just seals the deal! So cute~ It'd have to be something to consider after moving out, though... </3 I think I'd want a Jaguar or a Diamond.
The one I held was very active, as well. Was looking around, looking at people behind me, wanting to slither all over the place~ It was amazing to hold such a beauty~

Re: Scarlett is quite the photogenic snake
Gosh, the more I see of Carpets, the more I really really really think my next snake is going to be a carpet. They're so beautiful, a little bigger than balls, and slightly more interesting, from the sounds of it
