:D New baby coming monday. <3
I had the best of luck today.
Was just looking at things on kijiji and cl for fun - not really planning on getting anything. I was more on the lookout for free/cheap tanks, lids, lights , accessories etc...
Ended up seeing a "Cotton Candy Corn snake" on kijiji with tank and everything for 200$ dollars.
Neat thing is - this is one of the first pet snakes I ever fell in love with! It is actually an old friends snake, who I used to house/pet sit for, and while doing so I fell in love with their corn, and lizards, and that's what really got me into owning them myself. I guess they're getting married now and moving to a house, and selling all the reptiles.
<3 Getting her for 160 rather than the listed 200 since they know me.
Here's a link to the kijiji add until she comes home Monday and I can take pictures myself.

Glad you found a snake, Cotton Candy AKA Hypo Lavender, she is gorgeous. The tank foot print looks a little small though, you may want to get something shorter and longer!

Re: :D New baby coming monday. <3
I have another tank, 24 " long 20"high and 12" wide i was thinking of putting her in for a bit. Sound better? From what I rememeber from house sitting it was basically a hide, water bowl, small stick, and hardly any space in between.
And good to know you're not upset 'bout it Jay. I was just lucky to have their number in my cell. :P
Didn't mean to come off so rude ; "haha she's mine", just very excited 'bout her.

aaaah. can't sleep again tonight..(like nineth night..ive lost track - im an aweful insomniac) been moving stuff around trying to get ready for her.<3
i have an oen style basement apartment, thats basically one giant room. Do you think it will be good enough to have my bps tank as far away as possable while I quarintine the new corn? If I'm careul not to go back and forth and such? The people she's coming from had a bp as well; that apperently died because it was infested with mites and they didn't knowwhat to do. (wish i was talking to them at this point and offer advice!) so i'm basically expecting the corn to come with them as she was kept a meter or two from the bp. any words of advice on how to keep my bp "Blue" safe as i literally gave her a third and final treatment of next yesterday?

I would treat her as soon as you get her home even if you don't see any. If you have room maybe you could keep her in your bathroom or a closet. Definitely as far from your other snake as you can. Maybe keep her in a tote or tub with nothing, but a water bowl, two hides and paper towels on the cage bottom until your sure she pest free. At least a month or longer.

I would agree with this, you can never be too safe and quarantining is a must with any new animal.
I've heard of people treating a new snake with prevent a mite prior to picking them up and bringing them home.

Re: :D New baby coming monday. <3
Thanks for all the advice. Moving Blue's viv as far as I can to one side of the room, and I'm setting up the quarintine on a shelf in a closet. lol <3
Can't wait 'till she gets home.
At two years old, being in a viv as small as that one, when I move her to a larger one what are the chances of her growing? She's seems pretty small for a two year old corn, but I haen't spend to much time with too many corns, but all the ones I have met were larger than her.

Really thoroughly inspect the new snake when you get her. When she comes home spray Nix in her enclosure before placing her in. Like you would normally do to treat for mites. Also keep everything bare and minimum until you know for sure. Keeping the animals just on opposite sides of the room won't matter though. Mites travel insane amounts of distance in a single night so they'll get there if they are present. You'll need to keep your ball python in a sterile environment as well. Don't get the mulch-y substrate or otherwise yet as a precaution.

Re: :D New baby coming monday. <3
Thanks for keeping the advice coming aaron.
Blue is still on paper towel, with just her hide and water bowl, atm. (I placed cardboard inside to make the tank seem smaller for her as there was alot of open space and she didn't appriciate it.)
I was planning on bringing the corn into my parents section of the house (upstairs) spraying her with nix, then carrying her into my section (downstairs) and putting her into a 25g tank i have sitting around (hasn't been used but i've been nixing it whenever i treated blue) - and will have it set up with a temp. water bowl and hide, and just leave the aqu. she comes in upstairs for now..(obv going to clean the hell out of it even though they said they just had today.)
Asked the parents about keeping the new snake upstairs for the first month, they won't let me keep her up their all because 'they don't have room'.. . So it's not going to be possable to keep them in actual seperate rooms. My room is sort of divided into two big rooms, with a big wall opening rather than an actual door.. each aqu. is on the furthest side of each section. ;/ best i can manage for now. would spraying nix around the aqu. (outside walls, table legs, carpet nearby?) help at all to keep any mites from travelling?
