Genetic Shopping
Good eve,
I have yet to purchase my first Snake but will be doing so in the next months, for the time being Im ingesting every bit of info on the BP subject as any responsible soon to be pet owner should.
I have come across something that is somewhat alarming in my cyber travels, that being the genetic flaws inherent to the Spider morph, Wobbles and so on, very troubling and quite sad that we would curse and continue to curse, such a noble creature with this problem for our own vanity.
Dont get me wrong, I think they look wicked, Just sad to see some snakes have such hardship.
Anyways my question to you is along the same lines, Are there any other genetic anomalies I have to look out for whilst morph shopping? Altho I likely cant afford anything more than Normals(Wich are lovely) Spiders or Pastels, I would really like to be informed.
Thank you

Re: Genetic Shopping
LOL!!! Clown has NO spider in it.
Clown is a clown.
It is a recessive morph that is not a designer combo.
The other combos that you need to look out for with gentic "issues" are:
Spiders: wobbling, corkscrewing, stargazing. ALL spiders have the is gene, whether it manifests itself early on or later in life, All spider have it to some degree.
Super cinnamons: "divoting" in their spine (not to be confused with kinking)
Super cinnamons: duck-billing; the lower jaw protrudes more than the upper jaw giving a reverse buck-tooth look.
Caramels: Kinking; a bend or fold in the spine. ALL lines of caramels, some say the ultramels don't kink, it's a marketing ploy to get more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Re: Genetic Shopping
I don't really have anything to contribute to this, but I'm glad you're doing your research previous to buying. c: I absolutely detest it when people -don't- research before obtaining -any- pet.

Is this blatant solicitation not against the forum rules or some business?

I think instead of doing that, I will get recommendations on breeders from the very helpful residents of this forum
