New Canadian Interested in Tortoises

Well, the title says it all. I'm super interested in tortoises of all species. I want to adopt/buy one as soon as I possibly can (pm if you have advice?) and I'm building my own enclosure for it.

Re: New Canadian Interested in Tortoises

the guy i buy most of my snakes from has a few sulcatas, hes had them for around 28 years or so he said, he was saying they dont do well in doors, his stay outside in a barn with a few big heatlight as much as he possibly can keep them outdoor, just a tip GL. i would like to get a redfoot tort, they dont live so long you need to give them to your kids and then have them give it to theirs..... and they are a nice size and very nice looking.

Re: New Canadian Interested in Tortoises

Ahh, yes, Sulcata tortoises are very cute! I would prefer one of the smaller ones, because they can be housed indoors. I have a large basement available that I can build an enclosure in, which I plan to do as soon as I find out a good, reliable place that takes good care of their tortoises.

Regretably, I'm finding it nearly impossible to find a good place that ships to Canada.

My favourite tortoises are Redfoot, Egyptian, Greek and Russian tortoises.

Re: New Canadian Interested in Tortoises

Welcome!! The only turtles I've seen up close are snappers and I've seen them in the wild in Ontario. Tortoises are much more adorable so I look forward to seeing pics as soon as you've adopted one! Please keep us posted!
