Re: Hey all..

welcome to the forum. where did you buy the snake? what kind of snake is this, it doesnt have a python face, not heat pits, and its not a woma or black head , which i think, corect me if im wrong the only 2 pythons with out them, maybe a boa of some sort, you need to find out what it is so you can read on it so you dont kill it with improper husbandy. do you have a heat source, thermometer, hydrometer? you need to get them for sure if you dont. instead of the sand, get some aspen shavings or you can use newspaper or paper towel. not to be a jerk but you really should never buy an animal if your not sure how to care for it, but to late now lets just work on what we got GL feel free to ask any question that come to mind, im sure someone more experienced with that snake will likely come on and say what it is and give you a few pointers.

Re: Hey all..

Definitely a sand boa. After looking at where you're from, and seeing as how it's in a plastic water bottle with sand, I'm guessing it's wild caught. Rough scaled sand boas are native to Pakistan, so that's my guess.

Forgive me if it's not wild caught but if it is, I'd tell you to let him go where you found him he will be much happier there. =) You could also buy an exotic species or a sand boa of your liking from a breeder, or something.

Good luck. =)

Hello and welcome!

I agree! What you have is a Rough-scaled sand Boa also called Short-tailed Sand Boa or Keeled Sand Boa. They get about 2 feet for females. Males are smaller.

Terrarium size- You want a 20-gallon long or bigger. You'll want savannah/desert setup with plenty of sand for burrowing.

P.S.Sorry to have to tell you the person you bought it from has misinform you. It happens, but at least you found this site and we'll do are best to help you. So your snake can live a long health life.
