Brandy's Husband
Hi. I'm BrandyMom2's husband.
I'm new to owning snakes, though I had a friend who's adult ball python female got loose in my house for a day when I was in high school. It was pretty dang funny imho, she was found safe and sound, but not without my mom freaking out and sleeping outside that night (which I don't think she's done since).
Anyways... we have an excessive number of pets at any one point in time, currently two dogs, three cats, a fish, and of course Benny, our daughters ball python (getting a pet snake was her idea, I wholeheartedly approved, wife was hesitant at first, but she's okay with it now).

That's not an excessive number of pets!
11 snakes, 5 cats, 5 turtles, 4 lizards, 2 dogs, 2 ferrets, 2 mice, plus mouse, rat, gerbil, and guppy feeder colonies.
THAT is an excessive number of pets, and I don't even have a lot by this site's standards =P

That is a rather impressive collection.
Right now we're at a pet lull... at one point I believe I counted over a dozen pets... including rats, cats, dogs, a chinchilla and fish. This round of pets seems more like my type of pet... the kind that primarily hangs out in its own enclosure and doesn't stink. I don't much like pets that I need to kick off of my furniture or smell terrible if their cage doesn't get cleaned daily.

Re: Brandy's Husband
Snakes are great at sitting there and looking pretty. But they're not without their faults. IMO, the best entertainment to hassle ratio comes from garter snakes.

Re: Brandy's Husband
Welcome - we also have a mini zoo here - 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 1 hamster, 6 snakes, 2 lizards and some tropical fish (and a four year old daughter!!).
Would normally ask for pictures at this point but your wife beat you to it!!

Re: Brandy's Husband
Hi, welcome
When I was a kid I used to catch snakes outside all the time. I lived in AZ and I would ordinarily find patch nosed snakes wherever I looked. One time I found one of these guys and I took him home to be my "pet." Overnight somehow the snake got out of my little cage and found his way to my parents bedroom. I found this out because I heard a very loud scream and soon after I got a very short and loud "talk." x.x My dad told me he found my snake pet under his pillow and it tried to bite him when he found it, lol. Someone should make a thread about snake escape stories. xD
