new here, and RTB tub size

hey, my first post, new to the site not herps. i have 2 bps, 1 candy cane corn snake, 2 beardies and a russian tort, anyway plan on getting a RTB, whats the adult tub size, not that i dont have the money for a boaphile, just worried about room, i was looking at the christmas tree holders at walmart, and wonderd if that could hold a full grown one, thank you

I dunno havnt seen them but it would have to be large depending on the animal. And welcome to the site.

Go on Boaphile Plastics or Repti-Racks and you can look at their racks and get the tub size there. I think you would need an underbed-type one. RTBs can get huge (8-12 feet long) and a proper enclosure needs to have a length + width at least equal to the snake's length. So for a 10 footer it would need to be 6'x4' or 8'x2'

Hello and welcome! If the christmas tree holder your talking about is a really long tub that i am thinking of. 5x2x1 Anything needing something this size could easily get out of it. As the lid could easily be push up enough by say a 3 to 4 foot snake. Then your tring to find a escaped snake.

The rule of thumb my reptile vet gave me was "at least 3/4 the adult size". So 8 feet long for a 12 foot snake.

As for tubs... for snakes that big, if you can force it open , they can force it open.

You can build a good custom enclosure for a couple of hundred bucks for a large snake (or other reptile).

A large boa needs a lot of space, and needs to be secure. I don't think you'll find a tub big enough, and I know you won't find a tub secure enough.

You can build a custom cage out of melamine coated particle board for about a quarter of what a boaphile cage costs. Most expensive thing on the one I made was a sheet of 1/4 inch thick plexiglass. I could have gone with much thinner, but I was being lazy, and didn't want to make frames for the doors.
